How to get to Orihuela Costa from Alicante airport

Alicante airport is about 45 minutes from Orihuela Costa. Here are your options — car, taxi, transfer and bus — so you can pick the one that suits you best.

Some 99% of those spending a few days in Orihuela Costa fly into Alicante-Elche (ALC). It’s the go-to airport for the south of the province and links daily with much of Europe, so finding a convenient flight is rarely a problem. What comes next is short: Villa Capitan sits in Villamartín, just over 50 km from the terminal — a journey of around 45 minutes by motorway. Here’s how to handle that final hop depending on how you travel.

By hire car

If total independence during your holiday is what you’re after, hiring a car is the easiest bet. You won’t even have to leave the airport to sort it out: the main companies have their desk inside the terminal itself. Once behind the wheel, the route boils down to joining the AP-7 / A-7 heading south (Cartagena / Murcia) and taking the Orihuela Costa or Villamartín exit; with clear traffic, that’s the 45 minutes or so.

A car makes even more sense if you intend to explore the surroundings on your own: a trip out to the Torrevieja salt lagoons, getting lost among the inland villages, or a round at the area’s golf and padel venues — the Villamartín courses, in fact, are right next to the villa. Parking won’t give you any headaches either: Villa Capitan has space for two cars.

By taxi

Just outside the terminal you’ll find an official taxi rank; there’s nothing to book in advance. It’s around 45–50 minutes to Orihuela Costa at a fixed inter-urban fare. It’s a direct, fuss-free solution, ideal if you land in the small hours or loaded with luggage, though it usually comes in a little above a transfer arranged ahead of time.

Booked private transfer

When you travel as a family or in a group, a private door-to-door transfer tends to pay off both on price and on peace of mind. Here’s how it works: you lock it in before you travel, the driver waits for you at arrivals with your name and takes you, with no stops, right to the villa door. The fare is fixed and known from the outset, with no last-minute extras. It’s our recommendation for anyone landing at night or travelling with young children. If it suits you, we’ll help you organise it — just message us before your trip.

By bus

The cheapest alternative. Several bus lines connect the airport with Torrevieja and other points along the coast, and from there you link up with local transport towards Orihuela Costa. That said, it’s the slowest method and almost always involves a change, so it fits best if you travel light and aren’t pressed for time. Check the timetables before you set off, as frequency shifts quite a bit depending on the time of year.

Arrival and check-in

Whatever means you choose, you can check in at Villa Capitan from 3 pm (check-out on your departure day is at 11 am). Is your flight landing far too early, or running late? Let us know: we’re flexible and we always look for a way to make the start of your holiday a calm one.

First time here? As soon as you’ve settled in, it pays to glance at the Villamartín guide and the Blue Flag beaches of the area to get your bearings quickly. And remember, too, that you book directly with the owner — with no platform commission — and with personal service in your language from start to finish.
