Golf on the Costa Blanca: the courses near Villamartín

Four major courses within a fifteen-minute drive, with Villamartín almost on Villa Capitan's doorstep. Here's what each is like and why to stay here.

Few corners of Spain pack top-level golf together the way the south of Alicante does. And the epicentre has a name: Villamartín, exactly where Villa Capitan stands. From here, four prestigious courses sit within a fifteen-minute drive — one of them practically next door — all playable twelve months a year thanks to the mild climate of Orihuela Costa. If golf is part of your holiday, or simply the reason for it, you’ve picked the right area.

Villamartín: the classic right beside you

Villamartín is the most established course in the district and the one literally a step from the villa. Opened in the 1980s, it hosted the Mediterranean Open and remains a favourite for its balanced layout and tree-lined fairways — demanding yet kind to the average player. Beside the 18th hole sits the well-known Villamartín plaza, with bars and restaurants for a drink the moment the round ends. Staying in the urbanisation itself means you can walk to the first tee.

Las Ramblas: golf among pines and ravines

For anyone after a course with character, Las Ramblas is among the most spectacular on the coast. Set between pine woods and natural ravines, it rewards the head over brute force: every shot asks to be thought through, with careful club selection. It’s a technical layout, with changes in elevation and views that stay etched in the memory — perfect for players with some experience who want something different from the flat seaside courses.

Campoamor and Las Colinas: two ways to play

Campoamor (Real Club de Golf Campoamor) is a broad, panoramic course with good facilities and a layout that alternates open holes with more sheltered ones. A comfortable choice for playing as a group or a family, with every service close at hand.

Las Colinas Golf & Country Club is the most exclusive of the four: a private valley where each hole runs in isolation between hillsides, with no homes in sight, lending it an unusual calm. Year after year it appears among the best courses in Spain. If you fancy a golfing treat, this is the place.

Beyond golf: padel and sport for everyone

The area doesn’t live on golf alone. Alongside these courses are padel clubs with courts to book by the hour, plus tennis and routes for walking or cycling. And at Villa Capitan itself there’s a fitness corner to keep in shape. We’ve gathered it all in our guide to golf and padel in the area, with distances and links to each venue, so you can pair a morning of golf with an afternoon of padel or the beach.

Why stay at Villa Capitan for a golf break

For a golf break, sleeping among the courses changes everything: you keep the early start to a minimum and come back somewhere you can genuinely recover. Villa Capitan, in the Fortuna I urbanisation in Villamartín, is surrounded by the courses: Villamartín almost on foot, with Las Ramblas, Campoamor and Las Colinas a few minutes away by car. After the round, a 300 m² villa awaits with a private pool and hydromassage, two saunas (Turkish and wood-fired) and a lounge with a fireplace: the perfect way to ease the legs. The beach is around 5 km away, a comfortable ten-minute drive.

You book directly with the owner, with no platform commission, a seven-night minimum and room for six people. If you’re coming to play several days as a group or want to arrange green fees, get in touch: we’ll help you line up the dates and make the most of your golf stay on the Costa Blanca.
